Regular readers know I have changed my patterns to E-Patterns, making them easier and far quicker to deliver. Unfortunately it also meant that some designs such as the Away In A Manger pattern was unusable as the buttons of Mary, Joseph and Manger were the highlight of the design.
So this week I have been busily stitching the remake of Away in a Manger
I painted the background in a simple wash of blue, pink, brown, grey and green. Then have stitched and stitched - I haven't completed the wording yet but I'm soooo close!
I added blush pink to the cheeks and some dark grey shading to the donkey with my artists pastels after stitching - if you don't have a box yet YOU MUST GET SOME! A set of 24 colours at an art store will cost around $18 and will last you forever - I have been using mine for 5 years now and have barely made a dent.
Just grab a cotton bud and add the shading wherever you want it!
It is so much nicer than watercolour pencils and you never get those pencil lines which are the bug-bear of watercolour users.
After I return from our holiday this pattern will be available on the Button Bliss website for download - a sweet, naive Christmas Nativity design to add to the festive atmosphere in your home.
Have a great week
